P-40 Warhawk 1/48 Scale Die Cast Airplane
Part of the Smithsonian Museum Replica Series, this value priced, 1/48 scale, die cast model of a P-40 Warhawk flown by 18 1/4-victory ace David Lee "Tex" Hill of the 2nd Squadron "Panda Bears", American Volunteer Group "Flying Tigers", features textured surfaces, a glazed canopy, a rotating propeller, green & brown camouflage with authentic markings including tiger shark mouth nose art, an educational collector's card, and more. 9 1/4" wingspan; includes a display stand.
P-40s engaged Japanese aircraft during the attack on Pearl Harbor and the invasion of the Philippines in December 1941. They also were flown in China early in 1942 by the famed Flying Tigers and in North Africa in 1943 by the first Army Air Forces all African-American unit, the 99th Fighter Squadron.

Really 3 1/2 stars. This is a decent diecast, useful as a "second" to a better quality 1:72 size P-40.
